Tolerance of plants to salinity in Irrigation Water

Shown below are the salinity (EC) thresholds for various common plants. Salt effects plants through the roots. The soil type changes the relationship between the salinity in the irrigation water and that in the root zone. Hence the salinity tolerance varies with soil type. Some loss of production expected when threshold exceeded.
